Let’s Plant a Park – 09.11.24

We celebrate the successful reforestation on November 9 in the “Levski G” neighborhood!

Thanks to our collective efforts and the enthusiasm of 25 volunteers and 7 little helpers, we managed to plant 45 large saplings – chestnuts, maples, and catalpas – enriching the area for generations to come.

Special thanks to the Mayor of Poduyane District, Kristian Hristov, who not only supported us on-site but also listened to local residents expressing their wish for more green spaces. Gratitude also goes to the Deputy Mayor for Environmental Affairs, Mr. Andrea Pandulis, for assisting with the organization, as well as to the district’s landscape architects who provided guidance and professional advice.

A heartfelt thank-you to Nikolay Grozdanov for his tremendous contribution – he dedicated his entire Friday to preparing the site, digging the planting holes voluntarily. We are also grateful to the State Forest Nursery Gerena in Elin Pelin for their partnership and the high-quality saplings provided under special terms. Many thanks to our partners at Save Soil for their invaluable support and collaboration in this green mission.

The benefits of urban reforestation are priceless. Trees absorb up to 150 kg of carbon dioxide annually and filter pollutants such as dust and nitrogen oxides, significantly improving air quality. Greenery reduces temperatures by up to 3°C in summer and provides natural shade, making the urban environment healthier and more comfortable.

Thank you to everyone who participated! Let’s continue working towards greener and cleaner neighborhoods because every tree planted is a step toward a healthier and more sustainable urban environment.
