Christmas in a Box for Children and Youth Without Parents
The campaign was initiated by the Bulgarian Yoga Association and carried out in partnership with the Surya Foundation.
Special thanks to all the donors who became Santa’s real-life elves, dedicating their time and resources to purchase and wrap individual gifts for each child. Your contributions, along with those of other generous supporters, made this campaign possible.
Residential Care Center and Transitional Housing in Vratsa
Both social services are managed by one director:
- Residential Care Center: 14 youths with disabilities reside here.
- Transitional Housing: 5 youths, aged 16 to 18, are accommodated here.
The children and staff awaited our arrival with great joy. One of the residents greeted us dressed as Santa Claus, creating a cheerful atmosphere with their humor.
We, the elves from Surya Foundation and the Bulgarian Yoga Association, placed the gifts under the Christmas tree. Before receiving their presents, other youths performed songs, recited poems, and even played a children’s song, “Mila Moya Mamo”, on the guitar.
Santa Claus, with the help of the social services director, handed out the gifts personally. The excitement and happiness of the children as their wishes came true were immense.
The social workers had also prepared a festive meal with homemade dishes, for which we are deeply thankful.
The charity campaign turned into a true celebration for everyone involved!
Residential Care Centers 1, 2, and 3 in Veliko Tarnovo
• Center 1: 14 youths with disabilities reside here.
• Center 2: Home to 13 children and youths.
• Center 3: Accommodates 11 children and youths without parental care.
Together, they form one big family. The youngest residents, currently 8 years old, have been part of the service since they were 3.
The 24 children without disabilities greeted the team with visible excitement. One by one, they received their gifts, patiently waiting for everyone before opening them. A special cake donated by a kind supporter, which traveled all the way from Lovech, added to the festive mood.
The room was filled with laughter and joy. The children eagerly explored their new toys, while others admired their new clothes.
For the youths with disabilities, the joy was just as great. Once the gifts were distributed, balls flew across the room, musical instruments played, and toys sang songs and told stories.
Happiness grows when shared!
Protected Housing for People with Intellectual Disabilities in Strazhitsa
The eight residents of the Protected Housing are some of the most cheerful and uplifting participants in the “Christmas in a Box” campaign.
They had prepared a long program of songs and dances, but their excitement for the gifts took over, and we shortened the program significantly. Together, we spent time enjoying the gifts, assembling and testing them, and sharing the joy.
We danced, sang, and drew together, sharing countless hugs!
As we were leaving, the children (as we lovingly call them) gave us small handmade gifts and a homemade cake.
Moments like these capture the true meaning and reward of our efforts to carry out successful campaigns!
Samokov
Christmas gifts were provided for 10 children, aged 3 to 18, at the Residential Care Center in Samokov.
Each child received a personalized gift tailored to their wishes, including bracelets, necklaces, dolls, punching bags, and dresses—every child’s dream came true.
In gratitude, the children performed a festive program of songs and dances, enhancing the holiday spirit.
Let us continue to create moments of joy and hope together!
Gavrail Genovo
With care and attention, Christmas gifts were distributed to the children at the Residential Care Center for children and youths without disabilities in Gavrail Genovo.
The wishes of the nine children were fulfilled, each receiving a gift matching their dreams and needs.
The children delighted us not only with their heartfelt smiles but also with Christmas poems they had prepared with great enthusiasm. Their words and joy made the celebration even more memorable and exciting.
Let us continue to make dreams come true and bring light into children’s lives together!
