Gifts of Joy
At the Center for Personal Development Support “Masha Belmustakova” in the village of Borovan, 160 children from grades 1 to 7 receive educational support. Some of these children benefit from specialized educational assistance provided by a team that includes a resource teacher, child psychologist, and speech therapist.
Our campaign, “Christmas Gift for Children in Need,” was more than successful, thanks to the solidarity and generosity of our donors, to whom we express our most sincere and heartfelt gratitude!
The company O Plus donated 37 school backpacks for boys and girls up to grade 3, filling them with various school supplies such as notebooks, pencil cases, pens, pencils, crayons, and more. We added a package of festive chocolate surprises.
Kind-hearted employees from DSK Bank discovered our campaign on the Platform (special thanks to our friends at the Bcause Foundation, whose support made this possible) and made a generous donation. This enabled us to provide toiletry kits for the remaining 123 children up to grade 7. Each kit included shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a hairbrush or comb, nail clippers, hand soap, deodorant, and even more chocolate surprises.
The cosmetics company Avene donated additional shampoos and facial cleansing lotions, which were also included in the kits. We extend our thanks to them as well.
When we arrived at the Center in Borovan, we were warmly welcomed by 24 children from the folk dance school, the vocal group “Slaveyche,” and the workshop “Stories in Fairytales.” They performed a wonderful program, reciting Christmas poems, singing Christmas songs, and debuting several folk dances from the newly formed dance school.
The entire performance took place in front of the Christmas tree, with the gifts placed underneath. The children’s happiness was indescribable! We took the time to play with them and watch as they eagerly explored their gifts.
The purpose of these gifts is also to contribute to the children’s health education. To make this even more impactful, Dr. Stefan Tonchev from our friends and partners at the National Network of Health Mediators conducted an oral hygiene workshop in the form of a game. The children excitedly gathered around him to get their hands on the dental models, generously provided by Dr. Mihail Dalemski, and practiced “brushing” them.
We thank the National Network of Health Mediators for their specially designed health education materials for children, including booklets, stickers, flyers, and more. These were an important part of achieving our ultimate goal – helping children appreciate the importance of personal hygiene.
In total, our campaign distributed 160 gifts. We personally handed out 24 of them to the children who came to perform for us. The remaining gifts were distributed personally by the director of the Center, “Masha Belmustakova,” to children from the football and volleyball clubs in Borovan, as well as to children from the “Fairy Tale Calendar” and “Crafty Hands” workshops in Dobrolevo, and the football club and “Nature Study” workshop in the village of Malohrad.
The children’s joy and gratitude inspire us to continue our campaign to the very end. Join our social campaigns with a donation, and stay tuned for more updates very soon!
