“Beyond the Bridge” 2025 – The First Step Toward a Heartfelt Annual Tradition

On June 14, 2025, the region of Lovech came alive with energy, inspiration, and solidarity. The first edition of “Beyond the Bridge” — an autonomous running and cycling event organized by the SURYA Foundation — brought together hundreds of participants from across the country, united by a single goal: sport in the name of a cause that makes a real impact.

The race routes passed through some of the most scenic and historically significant sites in the Lovech region — the Devetaki Plateau, the Kakrina Inn, Hisarya Fortress, and the iconic Covered Bridge in Lovech. Participants could choose a distance that suited their ability, with the event’s focus extending beyond physical endurance to the message behind every step: solidarity, support, and meaningful movement.

This year’s edition focused on supporting the Home for Adults with Physical Disabilities in the village of Slivek. The facility is home to 40 people with severe physical conditions — individuals for whom rehabilitation is not a luxury but a vital necessity. Currently, the home lacks a dedicated physiotherapy room, making daily life even more challenging for its residents.
