Christmas in a Box for Children and Young People Without Parental Care 2025
Gifts, Encounters, and Care That ContinuesIn the winter of 2025, Surya Foundation implemented the charitable campaign “Christmas in a Box”, dedicated to children and young people living in social care services without parental support. The campaign was carried out in partnership with the Bulgarian Yoga Association and covered 13 social services in 7 locations, including Borovan, Vratsa, Gavril Genovo, Samokov, Cherven Bryag, Strazhitsa, and Veliko Tarnovo.
The campaign, originally launched by the Bulgarian Yoga Association, has supported most of these centers for many years. Thanks to the successful partnership with Surya Foundation, we were able to include additional social centers and reach even more children as part of the ongoing care provided through this and other initiatives. The first phase of the campaign focused entirely on personal gifts. Through a dedicated platform, donors were able to choose a specific gift for a specific child, ensuring that every wish was seen, respected, and fulfilled. Thanks to the generosity of dozens of donors, all individual gifts were secured in time for Christmas.
After the completion of the first phase, the campaign naturally continued. At the request of the social centers, a list of essential shared needs was prepared, including food supplies, hygiene products, bedding, household items, equipment, and more. With additional support, part of these needs was also covered, helping to ensure better and more dignified daily living conditions for the children and young people. The remaining shared needs will be addressed through the funds collected via monetary donations as part of the campaign.
One of the most emotional moments of the initiative were the in-person visits to the homes. Representatives of Surya Foundation and the Bulgarian Yoga Association attended the gift distribution and took part in the Christmas celebrations prepared by the children and the staff of the social services. Songs, dances, poems, and special festive programs filled these visits with warmth and meaning. The children’s smiles and excitement showed that they felt seen, cared for, and loved.“Christmas in a Box for Children and Young People Without Parental Care 2025” demonstrated that true support does not end with a gift — it continues through care, presence, and consistency. We would like to thank all donors, partners, and volunteers who turned this campaign into more than a Christmas initiative — into a shared act of responsibility and humanity.
