The Surya Foundation has launched a charity campaign to raise funds for the purchase of three electronic appliances β a washing machine, a dryer, and a refrigerator β which will be donated to a Sheltered Housing for people with intellectual disabilities in the town of Strazhitsa.
At the moment, caring for the young people is difficult. Due to their disabilities, they have very specific needs.

Daily, the caregivers are required to wash large amounts of clothes and bedding. Regular washing machines quickly wear out and break. The facility needs 2 such washing machines to handle the daily laundry loads. Currently, only one is working. For this reason, a semi-professional washing machine is needed, one with a significantly larger capacity that can withstand the necessary workload. This will significantly improve the care for hygiene and health of those who cannot care for themselves.
The available dryer in the facility is also broken, and during the winter, it is impossible to dry clothes outside, so they have to be hung inside. The laundry takes up a lot of space in the living space and increases humidity in the rooms. The priority need for the youth is to purchase a drying machine, which will help them live better.

During the course of our campaign, well-meaning donors have provided the refrigerator, which was greatly needed.
The youth also need a multifunctional color printer to print various educational materials. This is important both for the development of the skills of the youth with delayed development and multiple disabilities and for easing the staff’s workload.
Through our campaign, we aim to improve the quality of life for these people by providing them with comfort and independence in their daily lives and care for them.
