The SURYA Foundation is launching a new campaign in support of a very special place – the Protected Home for People with Intellectual Disabilities in Strazhitsa, where 8 young residents – 5 women and 3 men – have found their home. They live together, share their daily lives, and, with the help of the team, learn independence, communication, and self-care.

What will we do?
Through the joint efforts of our team and volunteers, we will transform the space these young people call home. We plan to:
- Repaint the walls in the residents’ rooms;
- Replace the laminate flooring in their rooms for added comfort and improved hygiene;
- Renovate the kitchenette – repaint, replace old cabinets, and add a kitchen island that will make the kitchen more functional and serve as a space for occupational therapy through cooking;
- Purchase new household appliances needed for daily use and therapeutic activities, including:
- a vertical freezer for proper food storage,
- a new stove,
- a bread maker,
- and other small but important kitchen appliances.
Why are we doing this?
Because we believe that every person has the right to live with dignity, regardless of the challenges they face. The space we live in affects our mood, self-esteem, and ability to grow. Our goal is to create an environment that fosters independence, confidence, and the desire to learn practical skills.
