What did we achieve?
On October 12, we successfully completed another green initiative in partnership with the Bulgarian Yoga Association. Together, we took care of the young forest on Vitosha by helping the saplings planted last year strengthen before the winter season.
How did the campaign progress?
A dedicated team of 15 volunteers, along with one little helper, tended to the saplings in Vitosha Nature Park, showcasing incredible care and commitment to nature. With your support, the forest now has a better chance of growing strong and healthy!
Whatβs Happening?
As a partner of the Bulgarian Yoga Association, the Surya Foundation will participate in the ecological initiative to support the planting and nurturing of young forests in Vitosha Nature Park.
In collaboration with the State Forestry Agency of Sofia, the Bulgarian Yoga Association planted saplings on a significant plot in Vitosha in 2023. However, creating a thriving forest requires continuous and appropriate care for the young saplings, including periodic cleaning, weeding, and replanting over several years.
On October 12, we will conduct a follow-up maintenance session, which includes weeding around the planted saplings and preparing them for the winter season. We need 20 volunteers to give these young trees the love and care they need to flourish.
How to Participate?
- Volunteers should be in good physical condition as the site is deeper into the park and requires walking from the βTintyavaβ Hut.
- Children under 5 years of age are not advised to join.
When?
October 12, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Where?
Vitosha Nature Park.
Meeting Point: 9:30 AM at the βTintyavaβ Hut, accessible by car.
What to Bring?
We will provide all necessary tools, gloves, and raincoats (in case of bad weather). Volunteers should bring their own: water, food, personal essentials.
