On April 26, we invite you to a tree-planting event in the dried-up riverbed in Abdovitsa neighborhood.
In 2024, the Surya Foundation successfully planted over 2,000 saplings with the help of more than 100 volunteers. The event covered an area of 6 decares, and this new planting initiative will once again support the “New Forest of Sofia” campaign by Sofia Municipality.
The goal is to transform unused municipal land—no longer suitable for agriculture or grazing—into forests. And they are desperately needed. Forests are the lungs of our planet, and every tree planted makes a difference. Sofia needs a breath of fresh air!
We Need You!
Become a volunteer and help us bring this project to life! We need many hands for planting and watering. During our previous event, every participant contributed not just with hard work, but with positive energy, experience sharing, and new friendships—all while doing something great for nature.
The saplings, tools, and gloves are provided by the Sofia Municipality. However, due to budget limitations and the need to plan for the long-term maintenance of the newly planted trees—including fertilizing, watering, mowing, and soil cultivation over the next 2 to 3 years—we need to secure additional funds.

7% of the donated amount is used to cover the administrative expenses of the Surya Foundation, ensuring effective management and transparency of the campaign.
Bank donations are not automatically reflected in the campaign total on the website.
