Keeping the centre for over 100 children in Borovan
An emergency roof repair consumed €13,000 from next year's budget. Let's put it back before December.

About this cause
By the end of the year, together we can put back €13,000 so that the Masha Belmustakova personal development support centre in Borovan can go on being a place of education, growth and support for more than 100 children.
A dangerously compromised roof forced an emergency repair that could not wait. To pay for it, the centre drew €13,000 in advance from the budget covering the first four months of next year.
The roof is now repaired. Our shared task is to put those funds back before the year ends, so they stay where they are needed most — with the children and the daily work with them.
Together, your support will cover
- educational support for the children;
- interest-based activities and developing their talents;
- the materials and supplies they need;
- the centre's normal day-to-day running;
- a safe and supportive environment for more than 100 children.
€13,000 is a lot for one small centre. It is not a lot when there are many of us.
No single person has to solve the whole problem. It takes many people choosing to be part of the solution.
Every donation is part of the result. And every share can bring one more person or company to the cause.
A place to learn, grow and belong
The Masha Belmustakova centre works every day with more than 100 children from Borovan and the surrounding area, many of them growing up in socially vulnerable circumstances.
There they receive educational support, take part in interest-based activities, develop their abilities and talents, and find opportunities to socialise and integrate. For many of them it is an important space beyond school and home, where they can be supported, encouraged and helped to grow.
How it came to this
The centre and the local school's gym share one roof, built decades ago. Repeated leaks and the damage they caused created a risk to the children's health and safety, and the gym was closed after an inspection.
Once the repair began it became clear that the structure was in far worse condition than expected and that a partial repair was impossible. The roof had to be rebuilt immediately.
The centre holds no reserve for an unforeseen cost like this, and the only option was to use funds set aside for its work next year.
A small municipality with limited means
The municipality of Borovan supports the centre and the children who learn there, but its local budget is limited and its capacity to absorb large unforeseen costs is small.
For municipalities like Borovan an extraordinary repair of this size is a serious financial strain — especially when the money available has to cover many local services and needs at once. That is why the municipality cannot provide the full sum on top, even though it supports the centre as far as it can.
The roof is safe now. Let's keep what happens under it
The repair is done. What matters now is that solving one urgent problem does not create another — the centre starting next year without the funds it needs to work.
Our shared goal before the year ends is €13,000. Not for a repaired roof, but so that life under it continues — the activities, the learning, the meetings and the opportunities for more than 100 children.
With every donation we become part of one shared cause: keeping an important place for the children of Borovan.
