About this cause
On 26 April we invite you to a tree-planting event in the dried-up river bed in the Abdovitsa district.
In 2024, Surya Foundation already planted over 2,000 saplings, thanks to more than 100 volunteers. The event covered an area of 6 decares. This new planting will again be in support of Sofia Municipality's "Sofia's New Forest" campaign.
The goal is to plant forests on land owned by the Municipality that's no longer fit for farming or pasture. And forests are sorely needed. They're the lungs of our natural world. Every tree planted is worth it, and Sofia could definitely use a breath of fresh air!
We need you! Become a volunteer for this campaign — we need lots of hands for planting and watering. At the previous event, everyone brought incredibly positive energy, we shared experiences and contacts, and we did something wonderful for our nature.
The saplings and planting tools are provided by Sofia Municipality. Even so, the budget is limited. To make sure Sofia gets its new forest, the planted trees need long-term care over the next 2-3 years. That includes fertilising, watering, mowing and hoeing — and we need to raise extra funds for all of that.
Come and join us on 26 April to create the future of this forest in Sofia!
